Whether it’s a phone call or email, the 7-hour time difference between Bangkok and London makes things a bit inconvenient. I also associate it with me growing older ahead of people in England by 7 hours. But this is when I thank my lucky stars for something I have just spotted: a silver lining! And that is I get to watch Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee live even though I am working on Sunday.

An English friend said this in his email to me last night –

This weekend is the queens jubilee celebrations so it is a bank holiday but i dont mind working as iam an anti royalist and think that we should not have them

What? He did not even capitalize Q in ‘queen,’ which I think is a proper noun, or should be in this case. ‘Anti royalist.’ Now that’s quite clear. But he is an Englishman therefore I forgive him 🙂

Dear dear J, you think you should not have them but I’m having them; in my thoughts at least. My viewing techno gadgets are ready. So are my tea and biscuits.

Tomorrow after work I’m rushing to live streaming like a madwoman. No one will know anyway, except perhaps anyone who might be reading this. But I’m buying tea for anyone who will watch this significant event in English history with me from my nook.

One of the things I look forward to observing is Her Majesty’s Jubilee regalia. If I have to learn about fashion it better be from among the best. And of course many significant others!

Pomp & Pageantry: nobody does it like the British. Guess I didn’t specify earlier that my anglophilia covers Scotland and Northern Ireland as well. Oh, to have a broomstick and fly to London Saturday night! Whereabouts is the Weasleys’ flying car when you need it?
